CHORD SELECTION

HOW TO CHOOSE

Choosing the string to use on your racquet is all about your level and style of play. They come in various shapes and thicknesses. Below we will introduce you to some basic rules for chords and key categories as well as what playing levels and styles are recommended for.

Basic rules

Thinner strings produce more power and tend to put more spin on the ball. Faster wear.

Softer strings have less vibration

More elastic strings produce more power (generally, when more force is produced by the string, also absorbs more shock during contact with the ball)

The more elastic the string, the more voltage loss there is.

Less tension/pounds on the string gives more power, more tension/kg gives more control (the movement of the strings does not depend on the tension)

The dense knit (e.g. string count 18×20) gives more control, the loose knit (e.g. string count 16×19, 16×18) more power

TYPES OF STRINGS

WHAT SHOULD I KNOW?

NYLON – MULTIFILAMENT : Strings known as Synthetic Gut, there is a wide variety in feel and playability so it takes testing to find the right one for you. They are strings that you will find at a very good price depending on the levels we described earlier. There are the basic synthetic guts(financially), there are also multifilaments (more expensive than the basics) which have a very good and soft feel (ideal for hand injuries) and better playability.

NATURAL INTESTINES: They call it the king of meshes. Natural gut is the best in playfulness, sensation, tensile strength.no 1 selection on the world tour, we now find it very often in hybrids with the placement of the polyester in the mains and the gut in the crosses. Its only flaw, it is quite expensive.

MONOCLON – POLYESTER: Strings which are made either of pure polyester or a mixture of polyester with other materials (usually kevlar). They are suitable for players who use spin in their shots and for players who hit the ball very hard as they are very durable and do not wear or break. Available in round - polygonal, rough (for more miter).

They are not for athletes who have a hand injury as they produce enough vibration and are harder.
